RSS...no...XML...no...uh...both?

Marc Hedlund: Use the term that people know -- RSS -- and don't force them to learn yet another new term -- XML -- along the way. I'd still love a better solution, though.

Randy: A lot of people have been thinking about RSS subscription this year. I suspect we're on track to solving the problem by the end of the year, or whenever IE7 is released ;-)

I think everybody agrees that (proper) autodiscovery in IE is the solution, but there are other solutions that make subscribing easier. Here's my top 10.

  1. Autodiscovery
  2. USM
  3. What is this?
  4. RSS  Chicklets
  5. Subscribe link text
  6. Subscription Chicklets
  7. Rmail
  8. FeedBurner
  9. XML  Chicklets
  10. Feed URI Scheme

Honestly, if you are not using a majority of these techniques, then you are losing subscribers.
